Haverfordwest is a bustling market town, ideally situated at the centre of Pembrokeshires road network. This means that all of the countys main attractions are no more than a short drive away.
Its most
attractive pedestrianised shopping centre, straddles the pretty
Cleddau river. Much of the precinct is under cover so is ideal
for occupying a wet afternoon.
The retail park contains a number of large national shops, such as Morrisons, Currys, Comet, Focus Do-It-All and Halfords. There is a large Tesco hyper-market on the other side of town. An excellent farmers market is held on Riverside, on alternate Fridays, throughout the season.
The
centre piece of Haverfordwest is the
castle which was first established in the early 12th century.
This is surrounded by quaint mediaeval streets, although most
of the building facades date from a later era.
For the fitness enthusiast, the town has a swimming pool and well-equipped leisure centre, ideal for a vigorous workout or game of squash. The centre specialises in running holiday courses for youngsters.
